‘American Idol‘ top 12 finalist Crystal Bowersox might seem like one tough cookie, but even the strongest of contestants can fall prey to the hectic schedule of the hit Fox show. Such was the case a few weeks back when the 24-year-old from Ohio was hospitalized, forcing the show to shuffle up their performance schedule.
“My health is fine [now],” Bowersox told reporters on the red carpet for the top 12 party in Hollywood last night. “Juvenile diabetes is different than type 2. It’s a daily struggle and things happen. Stress can affect your blood sugar. Anything can happen — you can go low, you can go high. You have to be really careful. And the stress got to me a little, but I’m okay. I’m good.”
The dreadlocked singer is also taking judge Simon Cowell’s recent comments that she is the “one to beat” with a calm demeanor. “It’s the same amount of pressure because it’s still up for grabs,” she says. “It’s still up in he air. It’s really flattering that Simon [said that]. But it’s really up to the American public.”
Something the American public has been buzzing about lately is the ring on her left hand. But the singer set the record straight last night, telling us that she does not have a fiancé and that “it’s my grandmother’s ring.” She does, though, have a son that she misses greatly. “My son is good. I don’t get to see him as much as I like, but everything is good,” she says.
