NBC’s ‘Dateline NBC‘ will soon have a new face as ‘Good Morning America‘s weekend co-anchor Kate Snow is leaving ABC after nearly seven years to join the competing network.

“The whole package,” as one executive producer called Snow, has NBC News president Steve Capus sounding thrilled to get the former CNN reporter on his team.

“This is a great day for NBC News,” he said. “This signifies our commitment to growing ‘Dateline’ as it continues its ratings success in primetime.” Filling in for Snow on ‘GMA’ this weekend will be Elizabeth Vargas and Juju Chang, reports the Washington Post. Chang beat out Snow for the ‘GMA’ newsreader position on the weekday broadcast.

TVNewser reports that ABC wishes Snow well. “Kate’s done wonderful work. We think the world of her and wish her all the best,” said a network spokesperson. Snow will start work as a ‘Dateline’ correspondent this spring.
