Betty White fans rejoice! Hollywood’s Golden Girl has confirmed to People that she will appear on an upcoming installment of ‘Saturday Night Live.’

Not bad for an 88-years-young sweetheart.

Ever since Betty appeared in a Snickers TV commercial on Super Bowl Sunday, the Facebook campaign (started in December) calling on executive producer Lorne Michaels to hire her as an ‘SNL’ host has been heating up and turning her white hot. It was at Elton John’s annual Oscars viewing party Sunday night where she revealed the gambit actually worked.

She confirmed the news but seemed confused by all the fuss. “I don’t know why or how,” she said, “but it’s been wonderful.”

Rumors of the gig have swirled over the past few weeks since EW reported that White might co-host a “Women of Comedy” special on ‘SNL’ with Tina Fey, Molly Shannon and Amy Poehler. Lorne Michaels has been cagey about the details and now it looks like that special will go on without Betty – possibly leaving her open to host her own show instead.

Last week ‘Twilight‘ star Robert Pattinson told the ladies on ‘The View‘ that he thinks Betty White “is one of the sexiest women on television.” Even a vampire that sparkles is a fan of the ‘Golden Girl.’
