In Theaters Today: Alice in Wonderland, Brooklyn’s Finest

Finally opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is Tim Burton’s unique twist on the classic mindbender story Alice in Wonderland, a movie he may have been born to make. For those who aren’t into that kind of thing, there’s a Sundance selection of a vastly different tone to check out – the gritty police drama Brooklyn’s Finest. Tim Burton brings his unique vision to the classic Lewis Carroll story, featuring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts, and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.

Training Day director Antoine Fuqua returns with another story about dirty cops starring Ethan Hawke, but this time, King Kong might have something on ‘em. Hawke is a narcotics cop crossing every line he has to in order to support his family, Richard Gere is a burnt out cop heading into retirement, and Don Cheadle has been undercover so long he’s starting to feel himself going bad with his drug dealer buddy Wesley Snipes.
