ABC Sets Dates for Summer Reality Slate

ABC’s summer lineup is beginning to take shape, now that is has announced season premieres for three returning shows.

On this week’s finale of ‘The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love,’ it was revealed that 25-year-old runner-up Ali Fedotowsky would be the next ‘Bachelorette.’ She will begin her search for true and lasting love on Monday, May 24, in a two-hour premiere.

The following week, ABC brings back ‘True Beauty,’ the Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher-produced reality competition in which pretty people think they’re being judges on their looks, yet aren‘t. Vanessa Manillo and Carson Kressley will host/judge, and they’ll be joined on the panel by Beth “Mrs. Howard Stern” Ostrosky.

On June 22, the big balls are back when ‘Wipeout‘ kicks off its third season. The show promises “brand-new, bigger, better and wilder obstacles in addition to specially themed episodes including Ladies Night, Family Edition, and Wipeout Blind Date.”

Still awaiting premiere dates from ABC are three new series.

Romantically Challenged‘ is a half-hour comedy starring ‘Charmed‘ beauty Alyssa Milano (no relation to Vanessa Manillo). That’s likely to bow in the spring.

On tap for the summer are ‘Scoundrels,’ starring Virginia Madsen, Neal McDonough, Carlos Bernard (‘24‘) and Leven Rambin (‘Grey’s Anatomy‘); ‘Rookie Blue’ (formerly ‘Copper’), a Canadian production about five rookie cops entering the world of big city police work; and ‘The Gates,’ a crime drama set inside a gated community.
