Jeff Garlin says the odds favor an eighth season of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ The star, who has lost significant weight the past year, spent the last week in New York, promoting his book, “My Footprint: Carrying the Weight of the World,” which chronicles his effort the past year to break his food addiction and go green. At Brooklyn’s Bookcourt, where local writer Jonatham Ames introduced the formerly big man, Garlin’s reading was interrupted by a phone call from Richard Kind, which he generously put on speaker. While taking questions, Garlin said there was a 61% chance ‘Curb’ would return for an eighth season. It all depended, he said, on creator and star Larry David coming up with the material – material that amused him enough to do another season. The next night, Garlin was in the city at Caroline’s, whooping it up with David, who chuckled as he stood in the corner reading the book, Kind, Susie Essman, and Wayne Federman. Essman, who plays Garlin’s TV wife, told the NY Post, “If Jeff loses more weight, what am I going to do? I’m not going to be able to call him a fat f – - – anymore. You know what? I’ll find something else to call him.” Earlier in the week, Garlin appeared on Jon Stewart’s show and addressed his food addiction: “”It’s not an attractive problem,” he said, explaining is was less glamorous than coke addiction or alcoholism. Garlin says that he hasn’t eaten sugar and fast food in a year. Stewart cracks up Garlin by recalling his ADD – “he couldn’t concentrate long enough to finish his donut.” Watch the whole interview.
