Andrew Koenig Appeared on 'Growing Pains'

UPDATE: The body of actor Andrew Koenig, 41, was discovered Thursday afternoon in a heavily wooded area of a Vancouver Park. The victim of a suicide, Koenig had been missing since Valentine’s Day.

“My son took his own life,” said his father, Walter Koenig, who co-starred on ‘Star Trek‘, at an emotional press conference Thursday evening. “The only other thing I want to say — I’ve already said what a great guy he was, and good human being — he was obviously in a lot of pain.”

Details on the ‘Growing Pains‘ actor’s exact cause of death are being withheld at this time.

EARLIER:

Walter Koenig and Judy Levin Koenig, the parents of missing actor Andrew Koenig, have been hitting the media circuit to help find their son, who has been missing since February 14th.

But Wednesday night’s scheduled appearance on ‘Larry King Live’ didn’t go quite as expected. After getting pushed to the end of the hour – due to news of a Sea World fatality and Toyota hearings – the couple sat back and waited to go on. “We checked them out. They were prepared to go on,” King explained. “I said hello. They said hello. We said we’ll be on in two minutes. They said fine.” But it wasn’t so “fine” after all because King says after the conversation, “they got up and left for reasons unknown.”

TMZ reports the family felt the delays were “disrespectful.”

According to USA Today, a concerned King later went to his Twitter page to relay his confusion. He wrote: “Still not sure what happened with the Koenigs. I talked to them in the break and told them they were on next. Then they left…”

After visiting friends in Vancouver, Andrew was supposed to head back to Los Angeles on February 16th to meet friends. When he didn’t show, his family grew concerned and reported him missing on February 18th.

In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline, the Vancouver Police Department expresses hope that Andrew is okay. “Electronic information leads us to believe that Andrew is still in the Vancouver area,” said a source. Police have apparently tracked his ATM card and phone usage and have said, “We think Andrew is just lying low in Vancouver.”

Andrew’s sister, Danielle, appeared on Tuesday’s ‘Larry King Live’ saying, “It’s just very upsetting … My brother does suffer from depression, so we’re very, very worried about him, and we just want to find him.”

Koenig’s ‘Growing Pains‘ co-star Kirk Cameron recently released a statement to MTV about his friend. “I am praying for his family during this time of distress and for his safe return,” he said. “Andrew, if you’re reading this, please call me.”
