Katee Sackhoff‘s time on ‘24‘ may be running out. The ‘Battlestar‘ alumna has landed a lead role on an untitled ABC drama pilot, playing a detective who pairs with a disgraced cop to solve crimes, all the while chipping away at the conspiracy that sent her partner into hiding. (Yes, apparently ‘Lifedoes go on.) The buzz, says the Hollywood Reporter, is that this would present no conflict with ’24′ should the Fox action-drama go on for a ninth season.

In other pilot casting news from the Reporter:

• Onetime ‘Desperate‘ Housewife Nicollette Sheridan is set to play opposite British actor Paul Kaye in a yet-to-be-titled CBS comedy. Meanwhile, Sheridan’s former on-screen spouse, Neal McDonough, has been tapped to play the con man husband of Virginia Madsen in ABC’s ‘Scoundrels.’

Becki Newton of ABC’s soon-to-sign off ‘Ugly Betty‘ will play a bubbly virgin in ‘Love Bites,’ an NBC comedy from ‘Sex and the City‘ scribe Cindy Chupack.

• ‘Smallville‘ alumna Kristin Kreuk is a newlywed bride on ‘Hitched,’ a comedy from Josh Schwartz – aka her current ‘Chuck‘ boss.

• Jere Burns (‘Dear John’) and Laurie Metcalf (‘Roseanne‘) are the heads of a family that runs a brewery in the Fox comedy ‘Strange Brew.’

• Sean Faris (‘The Vampire Diaries‘) has landed the lead in ‘The Wyoming Project,’ ‘Gilmore Girls‘ creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s drama pilot for the CW. He’ll play a 22-year-old horse trainer left to mind his three younger sisters when their parents die.
