It’s been a week full of awesome for ‘How I Met Your Mother’ creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

On the heels of inking a new three-year, eight-figure deal with 20thCentury TV and earning a Season 6 renewal for their Monday hitcom, Bays and Thomas saw CBS pick up the pilot they’re producing – a comedy that Thomas calls a “logical extension” of ‘Mother.’

Created by ‘HIMYM’ scribes Kourtney Kang and Joe Kelly, ‘Livin’ On a Prayer’ features “a couple at the center of it, instead of being about the single life,” Thomas told Variety. “We grew up writing ‘Mother,’ and now we can figure out the next chapter of the story.”

Set in Pittsburgh, ‘Livin’ On a Prayer’ is “similar tonally to ‘HIMYM’ and investigates the next chapter, the next stage of adulthood,” Bays told the Hollywood Reporter.

Even if ‘Livin’ On a Prayer’ ultimately earns a spot on the Eye’s fall schedule, Thomas and Bays have said they’ll continue to take very good care of ‘Mother.’

‘HIMYM’ airs Mondays at 8/7c and has been averaging 8.9 million viewers during its fifth season. Upcoming guest stars include country singer Carrie Underwood and Brooke Nevin.
