Madchen Amick, who to this reporter shall forever be ‘Twin Peaks‘ waitress Shelly Johnson, has been cast in a recurring role on ‘CSI: NY.’

Oh, but it’s not just any recurring role. Amick is playing a love interest for Detective Mac Taylor, says the Hollywood Reporter, and Gary Sinise’s intense alter ego hasn’t seen any action since, like, October 2007, when Claire Forlani’s medical examiner left him for the UK.

A spokeswoman for the hit CBS procedural was unable to offer any additional details at this time, such as Amick’s first air date or how it is that Mac crosses paths with her character.

In addition to her damn fine ‘Twin Peaks’ role, Amick’s TV credits include ‘Central Park West,’ the ABC comedy ‘Freddie,’ and ‘Californication.’ Most recently, she played wife to Christian Slater on NBC’s short-lived ‘My Own Worst Enemy.’
