Jamie Oliver broke down while trying to give an American city a healthy makeover.

The English chef was in Huntington, West Virginia shooting ‘Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,’ where unhealthy communities are rehabilitated and taught to eat right.

This particular city was chosen for having been named the country’s unhealthiest city by the Associated Press – and for being composed of over 50 percent obese people.

The chef faced so much push back from residents that at one point during shooting, Oliver reportedly began to cry.

“They don’t understand me. They don’t know why I’m here,” he said, according to the Daily Mail.

“People were outwardly hostile to some of the ideas he put forward,” said a source close to production, adding that the community has resisted his ideas, with a radio presenter announcing that they “don’t want to sit around and eat lettuce all day.”

The reality series, which premieres March 26 on ABC, is based on Oliver’s UK shows, ‘Ministry of Food’ and ‘Jamie’s School Dinners,’ which aimed at bettering children’s nutrition.
