Howie Mandel just made a new ‘deal.’

The former ‘Deal or No Deal‘ host has been tapped to be the new judge on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ replacing departing judge David Hasselhoff, confirms NBC honcho Jeff Gaspin.

It was announced last week that Hasselhoff was leaving the show after four years, and while he claims to be “thrilled” to “follow his dream” and do a (still unannounced) new show, the elephant in the room says The Hoff was fired due to his alcoholism. Producers allegedly decided not to renew Hasselhoff’s contract because of the 57-year-old actor’s personal issues.

“This has built up for some time,” according to The Daily Mail. “David has been in the papers a lot for his drunken behavior and he doesn’t seem to want to clean up his act.”

“He was obviously devastated at the news,” the source adds. “The show provided the majority of his income.”

Mandel, last seen on NBC’s hidden camera show ‘Howie Do It,’ joins ‘Talent’ co-stars Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan at the judges’ table when the show returns for its fifth season.
