‘Seinfeld‘ alum Jason Alexander has signed on as the latest celebrity spokesperson for the Jenny Craig weight loss program – not that there’s anything wrong with that.
“I just got to a point where when I would look at the ‘Seinfeld’ reunion stuff [that aired on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'] or one of these other projects that I had done and said, ‘I don’t like the way that guy looks,’” Alexander told People.com. “‘That guy is not attractive in any way, shape or form to me.’”
Alexander hopes to shed 30 to 40 lbs. using the weight loss system, effectively returning him to his pre-’Seinfeld’ form.
“Over the course of the nine years of ‘Seinfeld,’ I can actually see my hairline go away and my waistline increase,” he notes. “One of them I can do nothing about; the other I can.”
While several female stars have stumped for Jenny Craig – Valerie Bertinelli, Queen Latifah and Kirstie Alley among them – Alexander is the rare male celeb to do same. That, he hopes, will send a message to fellow fellas struggling to slim down.
“I’m trying not only to do it for myself but I’m encouraging other guys to come on board and say we can do this,” he says. Plus, there’s the added incentive of seeing ‘Seinfeld’s lovable loser lose a few. “If somebody goes, ‘Well, if George can do it, I can do it!’ – that’s great.”
