Gossip hound Perez Hilton learned a harsh lesson earlier this week – don’t get on the bad side of Los Angeles news anchor Sam Rubin. After Hilton stood up the KTLA Morning Show host on Monday, Rubin lashed out, calling Hilton a “talentless dope.”
It seems the clash arose out of a scheduling snafu – Hilton was booked for a 9:20 a.m. slot on the “Morning Show” to publicize his new book, True Bloggywood Stories: The Glamorous Life of Beating, Cheating, and Overdosing, but his staff had him arrive at 8:00 a.m. Hilton said he couldn’t wait for the later slot because he had to work on his blog, and promptly left the building, despite KTLA’s offers to give Hilton work space.
That left Rubin rather steamed. In an on-air rant the following day, Rubin speculated that perhaps Hilton’s “mirdle [man girdle] was on too tight.” The longtime anchor told viewers, “KTLA and yours truly have been here long before Perez Hilton upchucked his way onto the scene and we will be here long after he slithers away.”
For his part, Hilton is equally peeved, and Twittered that KTLA owed him an “on-air correction/retraction.” Ironically, Hilton’s publicist called the next day to attempt to reschedule his appearance, which Rubin says will happen, “absolutely, when hell freezes over.”
