The news behind the news is the big news this week, as there may be another shake-up on the set of ‘Good Morning America.’

RadarOnline reported that Chris Cuomo resigned Sunday from his position as co-anchor of ‘GMA,’ amid word that George Stephanopoulos is about to get Diane Sawyer’s spot in the anchor chair.

Their sources, who claim Cuomo submitted his resignation via email, say that he may be jumping over to NBC’s ‘Dateline.’

But that report has been dismissed by ABC News spokesperson Jeffrey Schneider, according to TV Newser: “I just got off the phone with Chris who told me, ‘nothing could be further from the truth.’”

However, Cuomo stoked the fires himself Monday morning by tweeting this tease:
“Good Morning, tweople. Thanks for all the kind sentiments. Yes, change is coming. I invite it, honestly. All is good. Will tell more soon.”

Diane Sawyer announced Monday that this will be her last week co-hosting ‘GMA,’ after 10 years and 2,881 shows, as she prepares to take on the evening news when Charles Gibson retires on Dec. 18th. Sawyer’s first broadcast will be Dec. 21st.

It was reported last Thursday that a formal offer had gone out to George Stephanopoulos to take Sawyer’s spot on ‘GMA’ but ABC’s political expert has not yet accepted.

It is rumored that Cuomo does not want to continue with ‘GMA’ if Stephanopoulos becomes a part of the show, but there is speculation that Cuomo could be promoted to the available co-anchor slot on ABC’s ’20/20.’
