Opening Wide: ‘Ninja Assassin,’ ‘Old Dogs’

Opening in theaters nationwide today are a pair of vastly different movies. On one hand, we have a sword-wielding martial-arts action thriller Ninja Assassin, and on the other hand, we’ve got John Travolta and Robin Williams starring in a goofy family comedy about a pair of slick hotshots who suddenly become fathers overnight and have to figure out how to cope entitled Old Dogs. James McTeigue, the director of V for Vendetta reteams with the Wachowski Brothers, creators of The Matrix, to showcase the talents of Korean pop star Rain as an unrelenting killer trained by a secret society in the ways of the ninja, on a quest to destroy the clan that shaped him to avenge the death of his best friend.

John Travolta and Robin Williams star as hotshot businessmen who suddenly find themselves saddled with childcare issues when a sudden paternity is revealed and twin seven-year-olds are put into their care. Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston and daughter Ella also star.
