She wasn’t the crowd favorite – or the favorite among her fellow contestants — but that didn’t stop 18-year–old Nicole Fox from taking home the ‘Top Model’ crown. The 5’7” Louisville, KY, native was chosen as the first “short” ‘America’s Next Top Model‘ winner last night, beating out bubbly, perky Laura Kilpatrick for $100,000 contract with CoverGirl, along with representation from Wilhelmina Models
Before a winner was chosen, Nicole and Laura went head to head in a CoverGirl commercial (where Laura’s dyslexia gave her a marked disadvantage) and then took to the runway for a walk-off. ‘Top Model’ cast-offs Sundai, Erin and Jennifer also appeared in the Julia Clancey show – and unanimously expressed support for Laura. Ooh, awkward.
The shy, quiet Nicole let loose when it was announced she won — “I’m a dork and I’m America’s next top model!” she said.
“You are a star,” said Tyra, of Fox’s model chops. “You have IT.”
And don’t feel too bad for loser Laura – she still has the chance to win six months of free rent in a luxury NYC apartment as a part of Tyra’s ANTM Fan Favorite contest.
