The big-time blockbuster of the summer of 2009 is now on DVD – J.J. Abrams’ slam-bang revamping of the venerable Star Trek franchise, with Chris Pine stepping into the role of James T. Kirk and telling the story of how he got involved with Starfleet and formed his initially-adversarial relationship with the half-Vulcan Spock (Zachary Quinto). Eric Bana plays a vengeful Romulan whose nefarious schemes unite the familiar names of the U.S.S. Enterprise – McCoy (Karl Urban), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho), Chekov (Anton Yelchin) and Scotty (Simon Pegg) – under Captain Pike (Bruce Greenwood). But what does the appearance of the elder Spock (Leonard Nimoy) mean for the future of these young men and women? The answers will come in the form of many sequels.

Also new on DVD are movies also premiering on Comcast On Demand, including Brüno, My Sister’s Keeper and Thirst.
