Kirstie Alley will document her very public struggle with weight on a new reality series for A&E. She is “close” to signing the unscripted series, Variety reports.
The ‘Fat Actress’ and ‘Cheers’ star’s purported new series would run for ten episodes and would be scheduled to kick off next year. It would follow her as she tries to lose weight and raise two teenagers.
“Kirstie is exactly the kind of star A&E is drawn to,” said A&E’s Robert Sharenow. “Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she’ll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras.”
This will be Alley’s first foray in reality television.
The actress was a Jenny Craig spokesperson for three years, where she shed 75 lbs. She later gained all the weight back, and her weight reached 228 lbs. “I fell off the horse,” she told People magazine earlier this year.
Her A&E bio states that currently Alley is also “producing a feature film, patenting multiple inventions, working hard to raise two normal Hollywood teenagers, taking care of eight ringtail lemurs and, on top of everything, looking for love.”
