‘Real Housewives of Atlanta‘ star Kandi Burruss is speaking out about the reason her relationship with A.J. Jewell ended – just months before he was murdered.
“Basically, A.J. and I were having little problems here and there and the situation with my mother really just boiled over,” she told the New York Post. Jewell and Burress’ mother infamously did not get along, but had seemed to patch things up last season.
However, in reality shows, not everything is as it seems.
“At the end of the ['Real Housewives'] season you saw them making up, but as soon as the taping was over, they went right back at it,” said the ‘Housewives’ star. “The tension was even worse than before and one day [Jewell] and my mom got into it and my mom said something and he was like, ‘I’m sick of this, I’m leaving.’
She also explained she still spoke to her ex-fiance all the time – including a conversation they had about two hours before his death.
“It wasn’t like we broke up and it was done,” she added. “We were going back and forth among ourselves and talking about maybe working things out or maybe not, just like regular couples.”
Jewell was killed on October 2 after getting into an altercation outside of an Atlanta club that he owned. A man who worked for him has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Burruss will open up about the events leading up to his death on tonight’s ‘Real Housewives’ reunion show, part 1.
