Crunch time arrived on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and, as all of us were aware, the nine stars remaining needed to bring their ‘A’ game if they want to win. Monday night’s DWTS served up the jitterbug, waltz and mambo. The judges continued to score with a stinginess that seemed stress out the celebs. Len, Bruno and Carrie Ann seemed generally underwhelmed and made it clear they wanted to see greater improvement. That means one thing – uh-oh.

Tuesday night marks the start of double eliminations and two unlucky couples will be sent home. The pair with the lowest score will be automatically eliminated and then the remaining two low scorers will have to battle it out in a dance-off, with the judges making the final decision.

Oh, the pressure. The fun! Let the games begin!

Read about tonight’s performances-

Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: Jitterbug

The gifted songstress entertained the audience with a peppy and fun performance loaded with personality, but she till failed to impress Len. He told her she needed to “polish her performance.” Come on, Len. However, he did have a point when he scolded her for wasting the first 20 bars essentially cleaning his desk. Carrie Ann was also disappointed in Mya’s jitterbug and said she “under-performed.” Bruno loved it (he gave her a 9). Tonight’s performance made me think that the, once untouchable Mya, just might not be so safe after all.
Score: 24

Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas: Waltz
Melissa had a tough time tonight. She either really hits the mark or misses it completely and unfortunately, tonight was the latter. Her waltz was sloppy; she looked like she was trying too hard; and she came off stiff and lifeless. The judges were understandably unenthusiastic about her performance. Bruno summed it up when he said, “This wasn’t good enough for week six.” It seems like the former teenage witch might be in serious trouble.
Score: 20

Mark Dacascos and Lacey Schwimmer: Jitterbug
Once again, the Iron Chef danced up a storm prompting whoops from Carrie Ann. Mark’s jitterbug was full of life, complete with tricks and plenty of flips. He looked like he was having a grand time throughout the entire performance. Len remarked, “Sometimes less is more but not in the jitterbug where more is more!” Mark appeared, once again, to be in a very good place with the judges.
Score: 26

Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff: Waltz
Aaron has waltzed his way back in to the good graces of the judges. He was well-prepared, and the intense nature of the dance suited him. He was humble, graceful and composed. A proud Len told him that this was his “best dance yet – and it was. An eager Carrie Ann said she gave him “an A for effort.” However, the real test will be whether or not viewers felt the same way. We’ll have to wait to see how tomorrow’s elimination goes for Aaron.
Score: 25

Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova: Waltz
We learned tonight that Michael hosts a radio show which evidently does wonders for his popularity on DWTS. The Cowboy was back at it tonight with a waltz that brought positive reviews from the judges. Michael, as usual, looked happy and excited to be dancing even though his footwork is still awkward. Carrie Ann told him his waltz “was charming.” Tomorrow night’s elimination might finally force Michael out of the competition. But who really knows? At this point, anything is possible.

Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel: Jitterbug
As usual, Kelly looked cute and sweet as she danced the jitterbug, but unfortunately, last week’s sprained foot may have taken a toll on her confidence. It was not her best performance and the judges even hinted that they were bored. Everybody agreed that Kelly could do better. Bruno advised her to “throw away her fear.” He then went on to tell her that her performance was “kind of beige.” Ouch.
Score: 20

Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower: Jitterbug
Louie visibly enjoys himself out on the dance floor. He’s cute, funny and extremely energetic. The jitterbug was a good dance for him to showcase his skills. Alas, there is room for improvement. The kid is clearly not a dancer but tries very hard. Carrie Ann said, “You dropped your partner twice.” Minor details, Carrie Ann!
Score: 21

Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough: Waltz
The model was in her element tonight. Joanna looked stunning in a long pink, ruffled dress. She moved effortlessly and was the epitome of grace. While there were some minor footwork issues, Len told her it was the “the best waltz we’ve seen tonight.”
Score: 26

Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson: Jitterbug
Donny, who was last week’s high scorer, worked his showman magic once again with a delightful jitterbug. His dance was bubbly and entertaining. Despite some minor flaws, the judges were happy with his overall performance. Carrie Ann said, “You certainly know how to work a room.” Keep up the good work Osmond!
Score: 24

After the individual dances, the whole crew came out for a group Mambo. The dance floor was a mad mass of mambo mayhem. Michael was eliminated first, followed by Louie, Melissa, Kelly, Mark, Donny, Aaron, and Mya, which left the 10-point prize to Joanna and Derek, who looked to be doing more dirty dancing than mambo. At one point, Carrie Ann asked, “What move is that?” Here’s another question: Can Derek keep his hands off Joanna? He’s always touchy-feely, but tonight, wow, he showed new paw-tential.

Final Scores (including points from Mambo)

Joanna & Derek: 36
Mya & Dmitry: 35
Aaron & Karina: 33
Mark & Lacey: 32
Donny & Kym: 31
Kelly & Louis: 25

Melissa & Mark: 24
Michael & Anna: 23

Elimination prediction: Michael and Louie
