‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Kandi Burruss knew she was looking at a difficult day. “Tomorrow is gonna b hard,” she wrote on her Twitter page Thursday night.
Indeed, she was fighting back tears, as were her ‘Real Houswives’ co-stars Friday afternoon when they convened at Atlanta’s Ray of Hope Christian Church to say goodbye to Burruss’ former fiance, Ashley “A.J.” Jewell.
“A sad sad day,” ‘Housewives’ star NeNe Leakes posted.
Jewell, the father of six, was killed on October 2 in a fight outside the Body Tap, a strip club the handsome 34-year-old had invested.
At his funeral, Jewell was remembered as “a free spirit” who was “taken too soon,” reported the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Burruss recalled Jewell as a warm-hearted, caring man who “would call people his son who were almost as old as him.
“A.J. had the best,” she said. “And he has three beautiful daughters and three handsome sons to carry on his family name.”
Jewell’s brother, Isaac, added, ““What you saw on TV was only a snippet of how my brother was.”
Jewell’s six children, their four mothers, plus his own parents and siblings attended the service. So did the cast of the reality TV series, including Leakes and her husband, Lisa Wu-Hartwell and her husband, and Kim Zolciak and Dwight Eubanks.
“Please keep Kandi in your prayers,” Zolciak wrote on Twitter.
“Rip AJ.,” Wu-Hartwell posted. “He will be missed.”
Frederick Richardson, the man charged with killing Jewell, is stillin the Fulton County jail, at least until his next court appearance Oct. 20.
