Networks Boycott Leno

Although ‘The Jay Leno Show‘ has snagged stars like Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, television stars have been harder for the late night king to come by.

Turns out that competing networks have discouraged their stars from appearing on the new primetime show.

The topic was discussed when Julia Louis-Dreyfus guest starred on the show on Tuesday night. “Yes, there was a little pressure because as you know, you’re now on primetime and I’m on a different network,” she divulged to Leno.

“Obviously, I committed to doing your show and we’re friends,” she said. “I wanted to honor my commitment to you.”

A TV executive explained the situation to the LA Times, saying that “In prime time, the stakes are higher and you have to protect your flank.”
