Comcast On Demand today features four new movies that you’re going to want to check out. Of course, there’s Hugh Jackman clawing his way through X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the other three are interesting smaller films you may have missed in the midst of the summer season. Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo are The Brothers Bloom attempting to bilk Rachel Weisz out of her fortune, John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph are expectant parents trying to find a new home in Away We Go, and Jennifer Aniston’s one-night fling with Steve Zahn becomes more than she bargained for in Management.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
In this prequel to the X-Men series, we see how Logan (Hugh Jackman) was raised, how close he was to his illegitimate brother Victor Creed (Liev Schreiber), who will eventually become his hated enemy Sabretooth. Once Colonel Stryker (Danny Huston) enters their lives to turn them into a black-ops killing machine team alongside Wraith (Will.i.am), Zero (Daniel Henney), Fred (Kevin Durand), Bradley (Dominic Monaghan) and Wade (Ryan Reynolds), Logan eventually leaves them in the lurch to find his own peaceful way. But as we all know, the government rarely takes no for an answer, and Logan will soon find himself on a nasty revenge quest that takes him places he never wanted to go.
The Brothers Bloom
Adrien Brody is a reluctant grifter who lets his eager brother (Mark Ruffalo) talk him into one more job, swindling a bored and eccentric heiress (Rachel Weisz) out of her fortune. Things get complicated when their initial plan doesn’t work, and they wind up taking her on as an accomplice in their con jobs, with unexpectedly funny and romantic results. You can watch the first 7 minutes of the film right here on Fancast!
Away We Go
Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) are a longtime couple expecting their first child who are stunned by the news that Burt’s parents (Catherine O’Hara, Jeff Daniels) are suddenly moving to Antwerp before the child is even born. When the realize they have no more reason to stay where they are, they set off on a journey across the country to visit friends like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Allison Janney to find a suitable place to set down their new family’s roots.
Jennifer Aniston is a traveling art dealer who has a one-night stand with a naive hotel manager (Steve Zahn), who proceeds to fall madly in love with her, to the point of following her across the country and trying to break up her relationship with her boyfriend Jango (Woody Harrelson).
