Sean Connery to Return for ‘Indy 5?’

The rumor mill has started already. With Harrison Ford saying he’s ready to don the fedora again, and talk that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are hammering out the story for a fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, word now has it that they’ve devised a way to bring back the senior Jones, who was played by Sean Connery in 1989′s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. That’ll be a tricky feat, considering that it was heavily intimated that Indy’s father had died. But if anything can wash the taste of mediocrity out of our collective mouths after The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull introduced “nuking the fridge” into the cultural lexicon as synonymous with a movie franchise overstaying its welcome, it might just be luring Connery out of retirement for one more adventure.

Connery hasn’t made a film since 2003′s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, a disaster that should never have been, considering how great the graphic novel source material is. Connery needs to go out on a better note than that, and an Indy movie might just be the ticket. Or so we can hope.
