CSI: Miami might get a little cooler this season as one of the show’s hottest stars, Adam Rodriguez, turns in his badge for the concrete pastures of New York City.

The ‘Miami’ actor has a new gig on Ugly Betty as an old flame of Betty’s sister, Hilda, played by Ana Ortiz.

Rodriguez has been branching out from television staring in several upcoming films, most recently Tyler Perry’s latest movie I Can Do Bad All By Myself, steaming up the silver screen with Academy Award Nominee Taraji P. Henson. He’s also going be around a badge again when working with rapper 50 Cent on the police drama ‘Caught in the Crossfire.’

“CSI was an amazing opportunity to develop my career,” Rodriguez told the New York Daily News. “I’m ready to explore any kind of [good] projects down the road on TV or the big screen.”

The former Detective Delko also reveals that he didn’t always dream of being an actor. Once a stockbroker, Rodriguez had originally set his sights on becoming a baseball player. However, he suffered a career ending spinal injury. Of the incident Rodriguez remarks, “The injury made clear that the dream of becoming a baseball player was intercepted. When I turned 19, I said to myself: ‘I’m going to take acting classes and dedicate myself to this passion.’”

Rodriguez makes his first appearance on Ugly Betty Oct. 9.
