Every Fall TV season there are certain actors that burst onto the scene and demand attention. Whether it’s for sheer magnetism on the screen, insanely creative or well-written characters, or a combination of many factors, these are the five faces we think everyone will be taking note of this Fall.

Daniela Ruah

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’

Daniela Ruah (CBS)

Daniela Ruah (CBS)

Premieres: Tuesday 9/22 at 9pm ET on CBS
Role: Special Agent Kensi Blye
How We Know Her: You probably don’t, unless you’re a loyal viewer of Portugal TV. (Ruah was a mainstay on ‘Tue e U’ and ‘Dei-te Quase Tudo’ – series in her native Portugal).
Fun Fact: Ruah was the Season 1 champion of ‘Danca Comigo’ – the Portuguese version of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’
Breaking Down Her Character: “Kensi is the youngest on the team. She’s a really international girl – she’s a Navy brat- she’s lived in a bunch of different countries. She speaks different languages – she’s pretty versatile for undercover stuff. She wants to do things and she wants to do things right. She looks up to Callen and Sam (LL and Chris O’Donnell’s characters). When they get all this action stuff, that’s what I want to do! The first time you see me in the premiere, I’ll be speaking Portuguese.”
Why We Love Her:NCIS‘ can be bit of a boys’ club (at least the original series), minus some Pauley Perrette action, but Ruah is poised to break up the heavy testosterone LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell will be throwing around in this highly anticipated spinoff.

How We Know Him: Played the role of T.J. Eddy in 2008 Oscar-nominated movie ‘Frozen River.’
Breaking Down His Character: “I think he’s the epitome of the American teenager. He’s very sarcastic and doesn’t like to interact with his family. He hides away and doesn’t ever want to put clothes on.”
Fun Fact: Charlie was listed on Roger Ebert’s top ten 2008 child actor performances list.
The Perils Of Shooting Shirtless: “It was horrible, actually. We had to get morning shots so we’d start at six in the morning. It was the only cold spell that Burbank has ever had, in like 10 years. It was 50 degrees in the morning and we were shooting at a house which had no insulation or heating. We had to keep all the windows and doors open so I was freezing. It took two days to film that opening scene.”

She’s a veteran but she’s super young – she’s a war hero. At the same time, she’s got her overbearing Latin mother who constantly wants to make sure she’s OK. She comes to San Francisco to “retire” but she is in for a bit of surprise.”
Adrenaline Rush: “My heart I can feel bust out of my chest – my palms start getting a little sweaty because you only have a couple takes for the big explosions. It really is so authentic – for example in my helicopter, people could get decapitated or badly hurt if they don’t follow the rules. It’s a hot set.”

Doing Her Homework: “I was just handed the box set of the original Melrose and can’t wait to dive into it. Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev (The CW

Canadian Connection: “My roommate from Toronto is also an actor and he got ‘The Beautiful Life‘ (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and we both moved out to LA with a bunch of our friends and we both got two leads. Because of that, his cast and our cast have all become really good friends so we all went to Miami together to celebrate getting the parts.”
Why We Love Her: Vampires are all the rage now, and Elena seems to be living a reality that every teenage girl wants: two hot vampires fighting over her affections. Although creator Kevin Williamson has cautioned not to call this a “vampire show,” and more a smalltown drama, we can’t help but eagerly anticipate that first moment where Elena realizes there’s something just a little off about her new suitor…
