Tuned In: What’s Hot In The World Of TV

Pop princess Britney Spears made a return visit to ‘The Late Show with David Letterman‘ last night to read the Top 10 list, but something was just a bit off. Sure, seeing Brit Brit read the Top 10 ways the world would be different if she were President was mildly amusing, but I want my diva unhinged or at least a little loopy (Where’s Paula when you need her?) Good for Britney for getting her act together, but bad for us that love trainwreck TV. Watch her read the Top 10 list in a bikini below.

Crazy Reality Show Meltdown

And the winner is … Chima! The outspoken, 32-year-old from West Hollywood, California was booted out of the ‘Big Brother’ house by producers late Saturday night after her petulant outbursts that included tossing a mic into the pool, swearing at everyone in the house, and finally her dramatic exit. Did the insanity stop there however? (Come on, this is ‘Big Brother’!) Lydia seemed to have caught whatever crazy Chima had and proceeded to berate her fellow HouseGuests in a drunken tirade. All in all, it was one of the wildest BB episodes I’ve seen in many, many years as Michele’s HOH reign ended and a new HOH was elected due to Chima’s ouster. And yes, I’m counting down the minutes until Thursday’s live episode in which we will see the POV played live, the eviction and the new HOH crowned.

And has the controversy boosted the show’s ratings? Definitely! Tuesday’s episode was the largest of the season in all key demos (8.1 million total viewers) and continued the surge the show has been on of late. Amazingly, in its 11th season, the show is now 5 percent ahead of last season’s ratings and looks to be back next summer for sure. In a summer full of failed mistakes, ‘BB’ and ‘America’s Got Talent,’ along with ‘The Bachelorette’ showed that the summer reality staples are here to stay.
