After deliciously wicked turns on ‘Alias‘ and ‘Heroes,’ David Anders is moving on to one of TV’s most formidable opponents: Jack Bauer.

Anders is reportedly set to join the cast of ‘24‘ this season in a still-undisclosed role (but here’s hoping the character will possess his well-played streaks of villainy).

“He will be in a handful of episodes,” Anders rep confirms to E!.

The action-packed Fox drama looks to be arming itself with a fleet of guest stars for the upcoming eighth season, leading some to speculate this could be the last time Jack Bauer saves the day.

Executive producer Evan Katz tells EW that “contingencies are in place” just in case ’24′ is canceled after this season. “We have a scenario that would work well [if it's the end],” he says, adding, “We’re remaining flexible.”

It’s true Kiefer Sutherland’s contract expires in May, but Sutherland told me in January that, “The audience will probably tire of it before I do,” so it sounded like he’s not quite ready to stop the clock just yet.
