‘The Office’ Vows to Have A Wedding Soon

I spent the day at ‘The Office.’ But it wasn’t just another day at the office.

In between shooting episode 3 of the new season, the employees of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company gave reporters a studio tour inside ‘The Office’ Friday afternoon. The set visit was followed by a Q&A session with the hilarious cast of the Emmy-winning sitcom, where they cordially invited us to devour some Scrantonite scoop.

TV’s most adorable couple, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer), will tie the knot in a special one-hour episode airing October 8th!

Jenna Fischer, who’s engaged in real-life as well, deflected talk about her own wedding plans, but she happily dished on Pam’s.

“Pam will be walking down the aisle very soon…in the fourth episode,” revealed Fischer, “because Pam is pregnant and is trying to hide it from certain family members.”

Fischer had fittings for Pam’s wedding dresses earlier in the day, which was “neat” (and so Pam of her to say), and really “touching,” to fulfill her lovestruck character’s emotional journey over the last five seasons.

While Jim and Pam are finally getting married, their incorrigible boss won’t be romancing much this season, though he will have everyone thinking he is…married to the mob.

Michael Scott in the mafia?! That’s the office gossip, at least, when Michael is caught meeting with “an Italian-American gentlemen” while Jim and Pam are on their honeymoon.

“It might be a rough year for Michael Scott,” says writer Paul Lieberstein (who plays Toby), to which star Steve Carell replied, “Delicious!”

Other highlights from a delightful day at Dunder Mifflin:

~Andy (Ed Helms) will have an unrequited (for now) crush this season on replacement receptionist Erin, played by new cast member Ellie Kemper, who joked, “They’ve been so mean,” before gushing about the cast and how excited she is to be on the show.

~Dunder Mifflin paper is apparently now the most popular fake brand, surpassing ‘The Simpsons’ Duff beer.

~Back when they were bit players, Oscar, Angela and Kevin revealed they “used to sit in the corner and pretend we had our own show, which, of course, was better…we were going to pitch it to Telemundo.”

~”I don’t like glamour. That’s why I’m in show business.”–Kate Flannery, while explaining why she likes the despondent feel of Scranton, Pa., as a location (where the sitcom is set).

~Viewers may never get to see the finished ‘documentary’ within the show the characters have been shooting all this time. Liberstein said it would be “a mission in defeat, in some way.” Besides, he joked, “Fame changes people so much…and it would be hard to keep [the characters] at work in Scranton if they became famous.”
