“Twilight” Director Chris Weitz: No Nudity in “New Moon”

Thanks to an off-hand joke from Jamie Campbell Bower, who plays Caius in the hotly anticipated New Moon: The Twilight Saga, director Chris Weitz has had to deny rumors that the tween-angst vampire flick will be chock full of nudity. The 20-year-old Bower was obviously having some fun with the massive amount of attention the cast of this film is being given, joking that the members of Caius’ Volturi vampire clan “just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene. Yeah, it’s me, Michael Sheen and Christopher (Heyerdahl). We just sit there, naked.”

Given the fact that the whole crux of the Twilight story is about chaste-by-necessity lust and love, it’s fairly clear he’s screwing around by claiming a franchise aimed at tween/teen girls is going to be awash in manflesh. But Weitz has had to issue a statement clarifying that. “I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked! Jamie has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’s such a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in the book! — fully clothed.”
