Tuned In: What’s Hot In The World Of TV

CBS’s strong Sunday stable of shows aired mostly repeats, but that was more than enough to take a fairly week Summer night in the Nielsen ratings. ‘60 Minutes‘ had the night’s biggest audience, followed by an all-new ‘Million Dollar Password‘ and an encore airing of ‘Cold Case.’ ‘Merlin‘ dropped for NBC in its second week, as did part two of the ABC disaster mini-series ‘Impact.’
What’s Not Hot: Virtuality
Maybe Fox knew something after all. The network burned off ‘Battlestar Galactica‘ guru Ron Moore’s two-hour pilot ‘Virtuality’ on Friday night, and the show pulled in just 1.5 million viewers. (As a barometer, the much maligned ‘Dollhouse‘ aired in the same timeslot on Fridays and pulled in double the audience on a regular basis.) Hopes were high for the project from the start, but Fox passed on ordering it to series, and instead aired it as a standalone “movie event.”
