Tuned In: What’s Hot, Hotter And Definitely Not Happening In TV

If you’re like me and already starting to go through premature ‘Lost‘ withdrawal, even though the series finale is over a year away, I have some good news. ABC plans to show promos for its much anticipated pilot ‘Flash Forward’ this Wednesday during Lost’s 100th episode. Starring Joseph Fiennes, the series is based on Robert J. Sawyer’s novel that details what happens after a global event in which the world’s population all blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. If the series is indeed picked up for a run in the fall, this could help soften the blow when ‘Lost’ signs off for good in May 2010.

What’s Hot: Sunday Ratings

ABC and CBS battled it out again Sunday for the ratings crown, with the two networks ending up in a virtual tie, although CBS did have slightly more total viewers. ‘Desperate Housewives‘ once again was the top show overall on the night, while ‘60 Minutes‘ and ‘The Amazing Race‘ were strong for CBS.

What’s Hotter: Ugly Betty

Fans of the fashion-challenged Betty Suarez were a bit apprehensive when ‘Ugly Betty‘ was yanked from ABC’s schedule a few months ago and replaced by ‘Samantha Who?‘ and ‘In The Motherhood.‘ But alas, those new comedies tanked, and ‘Betty’ has been rushed back to the ABC schedule, returning this Thursday at 8pm ET, a week earlier than scheduled. And to top it all off, the show has already been renewed for next season. Hooray Betty, we look forward to much more Mode madness (and much more Marc and Amanda, please!)

What’s Definitely Not Happening: Dollhouse

After a week off due to the two-hour ‘Prison Break‘ return, Joss Whedon’s ‘Dollhouse’ returned to an audience of 3 million last Friday, setting a new series low in ratings. Not exactly the type of momentum you’d like to see from a series that is fighting for its very life. With just two episodes left this season, unless things turn around very quickly, look for ‘Dollhouse’ to be put out to pasture for good – joining the ranks of past Whedon favorites such as ‘Firefly,’ and ‘Wonderfalls‘ that didn’t get more than one season.

Monday Sizzlers:

  • Heroes: 9pm ET on NBC It’s the season finale and the conclusion of the Fugitives arc. Sylar has taken over Nathan’s identity and is poised to assume the Presidency unless our heroes can stop him. Plus – one hero will make the ultimate sacrifice.
  • Gossip Girl: 8pm ET on The CW Georgina Sparks is back! Yes, Michelle Trachtenberg brings back the character we all love to hate, but has Georgina had a change of heart? She runs into Chuck Bass in a most unexpected place…
  • Chuck: 8pm ET on NBC Chevy Chase returns and he’s intent on breaking up Captain Awesome and Ellie’s wedding. Will Chuck save the day in the season finale? Tune in and watch, as this show is firmly on the bubble and needs all the help it can get to come back for Season 3.
