What’s Hot: Wednesday Ratings

Finally! After being in the Bottom 3 more times than we can count, Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai were mercifully sent packing last night on ‘American Idol,’ setting up an immensely talented Final 5 of Kris Allen, Alison Iraheta, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey and front-runner Adam Lambert. Over 23 million viewers watched the double elimination, as well as a cringe-inducing Disco medley that seemed to go on and on and on… Fox easily took the ratings crown, while CBS took second due mostly to repeats and a strong ‘Criminal Minds‘ that aired out of its usual timeslot at 10pm.

What’s Hotter: America’s Next Top Model

You better work, Tyra! La Banks and her wannabe models traveled to Brazil in last night’s episode that saw Natalie sent home. The show topped the ratings in the coveted women 18-34 demo last night and saw its best overall numbers since the finale of the last cycle in November 2008. Nearly 4 million people were tuned into the drama … were they watching for the latest Tyra antics or for the competition? Hmm – probably a little of both.

What’s Definitely Not Happening: The Unusuals

ABC’s midseason woes are continuing to mount. Amber Tamblyn’s new cop series dropped significantly last night, dropping to under 5 million total viewers. It finished third in its timeslot and at this rate, the show will be lucky to air all its remaining episodes let alone get a second season. ‘Better Off Ted‘ was also down last night, and ‘Cupid‘ has been disappointing as well, so let’s hope ABC has some strong pilots ready for next season. There could be a lot of holes to fill.
