You may have heard by now that the original cast of Seinfeld – Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, Michael Richards and, of course, Jerry Seinfeld – are all reuniting for an upcoming run on Seinfeld co-creator Larry David’s HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm. This is cool enough in itself, but Louis-Dreyfus has taken things a step further. Despite having her own successful series The New Adventures of Old Christine, thus breaking the “Seinfeld curse” chatter, she says she’d love to capitalize on the new Sex and the City trend and do a Seinfeld movie.
“You get the financing together and I’ll work on the script… I would say she’d just be getting out of prison,” she said, referring to the famous final episode that had all four main characters locked up and serving jail time for criminal self-absorption. Julia may just be high on the wave of reunion excitement. “It was wonderful. It was like we never left to be honest with you – so that part of it was quite surreal,” she said about working as part of the famous foursome again. Should she curb this enthusiasm and leave the legacy of the show alone? A lot of people were let down the last time Seinfeld tried to stretch itself out longer than the standard half-hour, as there was much moaning about that series finale, but opinions have likely softened with the passage of time. Would you want a Seinfeld movie?
Here’s a bit more of what Julia’s been up to lately, in this clip from Old Christine.
