Doug Savant says he may be open to the idea of guest starring on the revamped Melrose Place – to reprise his dead character.

At PaleyFest’s red carpet for an event honoring ‘Desperate Housewives’ on Saturday in Hollywood, we asked him how he felt about the new series. “I am certain that the new Melrose Place is going to be an enormous success,” he said. “Because Laura Leighton is back on the show and everyone is interested in watching Laura.”

Leighton, his real-life wife, will reprise her own MP character, Sydney Andrews. She will presumably come back as the all-knowing landlord of the famed building. Doug’s character, Matt Fielding, was one of the the first openly gay characters on television, but was later killed off in a car accident.

Inside the event Doug also talked about the possibility about coming back to the series – regardless of the fact that Matt Fielding is now six feet under. “If they were interested in having me back, I would entertain the idea,” he said, then turning to DH creator Marc Cherry and jokingly adding, “Is there something I need to know? Am I getting voted off the island?”
