Whoever is spreading those rumors about a Penny/Sheldon hookup on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is wrong. Very wrong. And that’s coming straight from the horse’s mouth – the entire cast of the geek chic sitcom.

But that doesn’t rule out the possibility of another romance!

At PaleyFest 09′s ‘The Big Bang Theory’ panel at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood, the cast gave us some juicy spoilers for the upcoming season finale, including who exactly is hooking up with who? Who – or what – will be Sheldon’s love interest? What surprising romantic “glacier” will the season finale bring between Penny and Leonard?

Chuck Lorre- show creator
Will the season finale end in a cliff-hanger?
It’s not exactly a cliff… it’s more of a glacier. There’s an interesting story that’s sitting there at the end of the season between Leonard and Penny. The whole cast of the guys end the season in a strange place. I don’t think it’s ever been done before. There are two cliffhangers really. There’s the romantic one, and then one with the four guys. Hopefully people will check it out.

What’s going to happen with Penny and Leonard?
There’s something going on between them that’s getting deeper even though they’re not consummating. And maybe that’s kind of nice because they may have to grow before the relationship. I don’t really care about the will they or won’t they stuff… we’ll just have to stay on the air and find out. This isn’t Lost! I don’t know how the series ends!

Kaley Cuoco- “Penny”
Will Penny be in a love triangle with Leonard and the comic book guy?
He’s in the finale actually. There’s a little silliness with him. Leonard definitely got jealous over that one.

Are Penny and Leonard meant to be together?
Oh yeah, they have to at some point! I don’t know when though. It’s going to take a long time for them to really get together but they’ve formed quite a relationship so far. There’s definitely chemistry between them. It runs very deep for both of them and they’re going to go through their own paths in life and connect at the end of the day.

Jim Parsons- “Sheldon Cooper”
What’s next for Sheldon?
Sheldon is getting a very special episode. He gets to do something research-oriented that’s a very good opportunity for him. It’s sort of like Sheldon finding love in a way. That would be like his life partner in a way, with science. So Sheldon sort of gets what he wants by the end of this season I find.

Do you think Penny and Sheldon have chemistry?
I think what’s wonderful about them is that they’re the North and South Pole of the character spectrum on this show. I do think that’s what leads people into thinking about romance because it’s an opposites attract kind of thing. I would be jaw dropped if that came handed down. It would be a blast to play and would be handled in the most fun way. I would be flabbergasted.

Will Sheldon ever win a Nobel Prize?
Yes. Sheldon will continue to excel unless someone shoots him. There’s not a doubt in my mind. I’m quite certain of these things for him. He’s convinced me of it! Why would you doubt for a second! He’s the smartest one of the group. He’s smarter than his friends. That’s clear in the writing. Clear!

Simon Helburg- “Howard Wolowitz”
Will Wolowitz ever get a woman besides his mom?
He gets some action here and there. I think he’s a romantic, but he’s also a momma’s boy. I don’t think he’s ready to leave his mom. He’s always ready to sleep with someone but he always seems disappointed. It comes across like he wants sex but he’s really looking for a lover.

Kunal Nayyar- “Rajesh Koothrappali”
Has the show’s success been overwhelming?
We’re not a tabloid show. We’re not in those gossip magazines, so this show is spreading through word of mouth. It’s surreal now because it’s the little project that could. It’s crazy! I can’t believe it.
