The Showtime series, ‘The Tudors’, has been cancelled.
The network picked up the show only for a fourth season, which will follow the king as he weds the two Catherines – Howard and Parr. But this will be the end of the road for the Jonathan Rhys Meyers vehicle. The new season will consist of ten episodes and the series will end.
“I’m thrilled to complete the saga of Henry VIII as reconceived by Michael Hirst,” said Showtime president Robert Greenblatt. “He and [star] Jonathan Rhys Meyers have breathed new life into the costume drama by making it both modern in sensibility but also faithful to history. I think we proved that even after 500 years this is a great story.”
The show’s third season premiered to strong ratings.
