What’s Hot: Sunday Ratings

NCAA tournament basketball, “60 Minutes” and “The Amazing Race” helped CBS to a ratings victory Sunday night, as ABC aired reruns of its dramas and “Kings” continued to drop on NBC.

Overrun from the last Elite Eight matchup (North Carolina topping Oklahoma) left CBS in good shape for the night, and continuing the sports theme was a segment on “60 Minutes” on LeBron James. “Family Guy” featured the cast from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” but still was fourth in its timeslot, just behind “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

What’s Hotter: Greek

ABC Family hit “Greek” returns for its second season tonight at 8pm and there’s a lot of changes afoot at Cyprush Rhodes University. Everyone is back from summer break, pledges such as Calvin and Rusty are now actives, and the ZBZs must deal with a rival sorority started by black sheep Franny.

Spencer Grammer (Casey Cartwright) says this season will be about “her growth and finding her way. It won’t just be about which guy to choose (the eternal Cappy-Evan debate) even though Max will still be around. She wants to be less involved in her sorority and figure out more who she is. Casey isn’t President anymore so it’s kind of confusing for her.”

“Our first episode is about becoming an active and proving yourself. The pledges have all gone through big changes are eager to prove themselves. And we’ll also have a spy that will infiltrate Franny’s upstart sorority and report back to ZBZ. You’ll find out who that is tonight in the premiere episode – it’s a fun storyline.”

What’s Definitely Not Happening: Kings

NBC’s modern day re-telling of the classic David and Goliath tale from the Bible dipped again in the ratings its third week on the air. The show has gotten fairly decent buzz and reviews, so NBC had to be hoping for a better showing so far. At this rate, it’s no sure bet that the network will even air the full allotment of episodes that have already been shot. And with Jay Leno taking over the 10pm weekday timeslot starting in the fall, it will be a heavily competitive environment for the show to return for a second season.
