President Barack Obama was aware that CNBC’s Jim Cramer was headed for a showdown last night with The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart. Whether he watched is unknown.

But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs watched. And loved every minute.

The president and I talked yesterday about watching it,” Gibbs told reporters at today’s White House press briefing. “I don’t know if he has seen it. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Even as Mr. Stewart said that it may have been uncomfortable to conduct and uncomfortable to watch. I thought [he] asked a lot of tough questions and I’m not surprised that the video of Mr. Cramer’s appearance doesn’t appear on CNBC’s website today.”

Gibbs has had his disagreements with CNBC and Cramer over their negative assessments of the President’s economic stimulus plan.
