What’s Hot: Tuesday Ratings

Michael Jackson night on “American Idol” lifted Fox to an easy ratings win Tuesday night. Just over 25 million viewers watched the Top 13 try “PYT,” “Beat It,” and other classics from the Gloved One. CBS ran repeats but still finished a strong second due to “NCIS” (13 million) and freshman hit “The Mentalist” (14 million).

NBC had some success as well, as “The Biggest Loser” was up from last week, and “Law & Order: SVU” pulled in its best numbers of the season, with just over 11 million viewers.

What’s Hotter: Law & Order: SVU

Could Mariska Hargitay’s injury last week have led to the show’s big ratings bump this week? Hargitay was taken to the hospital last week for problems with a collapsed lung. The actress is should be back on set in a few weeks. Last night’s episode was the highest rated one of the season and a 17 percent bump from last week’s show.

What’s Definitely Not Happening: Reaper

This CW show had a cult following last year in its first year, and just returned last week for its sophomore season. The Devil might be in trouble though, as the show’s ratings dropped almost 10 percent from last week, pulling in just under 2.2 million viewers. And with the highly anticipated “Melrose Place” remake and “Gossip Girl” spinoff in development at the network, it’s unlikely “Reaper” will return in the fall unless it turns its numbers around and starts adding viewers.
