The two biggest action movie stars of the 1980s are teaming up. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-California) has agreed to shoot a cameo role in Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming project The Expendables, which he has referred to as being sort of an Ocean’s 11 “ensemble for ugly tough guys.” The cast list also includes Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts and Forest Whitaker. It’s the story of a rough and tumble gang of mercenaries on a mission to take down a South American dictator, but Arnold’s not going to have to go Commando. He’ll be playing a role he’s quite familiar with – that of the governor of California. Stallone is writing, directing and starring in this movie, which seems to be styled as the ultimate tribute to the kind of action flicks that made him famous, while also passing the torch to guys like Statham, who aren’t afraid to make movies about badasses being badasses. This should be a hell of a lot of fun.
Perhaps now, we can all use a reminder of why we like Arnold:
