Tuned In: What’s Hot, Hotter And Definitely Not Happening In TV

What’s Hot: Wednesday Ratings

The one-two combo of “American Idol” and new drama hit “Lie To Me” propelled FOX to yet another nightly win as CBS aired repeats and “Lost” held steady at 9pm.

“Idol” was down a bit from last week but “Lie To Me” looks like a keeper as it gained almost a million viewers from last week. Viewers sure seem to like FOX shows with Brits as the leads…

The troubles for NBC continue as the revamped (yes, again) “Knight Rider” dipped below the 5 million viewer mark and finished third in its timeslot. I’m not sure how many rides KITT has left in him.

What’s Hotter: Life

One bright spot for NBC Wednesday night was the return of “Life“. The series was up significantly from its last new episode in 2008 and it looks like in this case absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. I’ll admit, I had a hard time getting past the name of this show (really, I feel this is one of the worst titles for a show ever), but it’s really grown on me. Bringing the show back for a second season was a calculated risk as the audience wasn’t that high, but it looks like it might have paid off. Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi shine in this drama, and it’s worth checking out if you haven’t yet. You won’t be sorry.

What’s Definitely Not Happening:

Ugh. It looks like “Life On Mars” might not get to enjoy the post-”Lost” slot Wednesday nights for much longer. The show lost another 500,000 viewers from last week, and it wouldn’t surprise me if ABC shifts the show to a new timeslot or pulls it from the schedule. Why more people aren’t watching this show is beyond me. It’ s smart, with an intriguing concept and has elements of crime, mystery, and good old fashioned drama too. Come on people, tune in before it’s too late!

Thursday Sizzlers:

  • 30 Rock: 9:30pm ET on NBC OK, we know this show has become known for its guest stars, I can’t WAIT to see Jon Hamm (“Mad Men“) and Tina Fey mix it tonight. Will he do comedy as well as he does drama? If you saw him host SNL last year, you know the answer to that… Bring it on!
  • America’s Best Dance Crew: 10pm on MTV Yes, it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure, but it’s so fun! I love seeing Dom and Hok from “So You Think You Can Dance” (Quest Crew) back on TV. Tonight the final six crews try to avoid elimination while doing old school dance moves.
  • Grey’s Anatomy: 9pm ET on ABC 9pm ET on ABC If you are as sick of the love story of Denny’s “ghost” and Izzie, take heed. It sounds like Denny will be gone soon – and will Dr. Stevens be on the way out soon too? Brain tumor?? Something worse??
