It’s been in the whispers of fashionistas and reporters for a few months now but it’s finally official: Sarah Jessica Parker is developing her own reality show on Bravo, as executive producer. Bravo executives described “American Artist” as a competition with contemporary artists who vie for prizes to include a gallery show, national tour and other lucrative deals. Bravo describes the show as “an hour-long creative competition series in development between aspiring contemporary artists who will create and compete in a range of disciplines including sculpture, painting, photography and industrial design.”
SJP isn’t the only fashion icon to land her own Bravo deal. Rachel Zoe, celebrity stylist to stars such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Jennifer Garner, is bringing her own brand of style to the network, with the new show “The Rachel Zoe Project” hitting the airwaves in the fall. The show will feature Zoe navigating the depths of the fashion world and dealing with difficult assistants and her entourage.
Fancast got a chance to chat with Rachel at the NBC/Universtal All-Star party after the panel, where she was with co-star, Brad.
How do you want audiences to see you in the new show:
I want viewers to gain an understanding of what it is that I do. I think there’s a lot of misconception about not only my life and what I do but also about me personally. So, I think it’s really getting an understanding of my world and what’s involved in it.
What’s involved in your world?
It’s very fashion heavy, very fashion driven, some clients. There’s that really intense period between fashion week and the Oscars, so it’s a lot! And there’s lots of drama.
Is the show based in LA or NY?
We shot both
What fashion tip would you give the everyday girl who will be watching your show?
Don’t succumb to trends. Only do what’s best for you and for what works best for your body and your personality. Don’t copy something because it’s on the runway.
Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga.
What fashion item are you loving right now?
High, high, high platforms.
