The popular childrens’ book makes its way to the big screen, telling the story of a small and unusual mouse with giant ears and a penchant for bravery unheard of among his fellow mice. Despereaux is a young mouse taken with tales of chivalry and heroism who refuses to have that enthusiasm quelled even though it goes against all the traditional beliefs of his peers and elders. He even talks to a human, the lovely Princess Pea, who also happens to become a target of his affections. When danger is afoot, it falls to the noble Despereaux to try and fend it off, and he and his friends will learn a great deal about themselves along their quest toward destiny.
Due out this Christmas and featuring the voices of Matthew Broderick, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Kline, William H. Macy, Stanley Tucci, Sigourney Weaver, Christopher Lloyd, Tracey Ullman, Robbie Coltrane and Emma Watson, The Tale of Despereaux might just be the next animated classic.
