Back to You

Back to You 8:30 p.m. on Fox
The season premiere showed a lot of promise, but its attempt to revive the traditional multi-camera comedy backfired. Kelsey Grammer’s dry wit is limited by the laugh track (which dictates a certain amount of jokes per minute) and the cast would have been perfectly suited for the understated and subtle comedy that made Arrested Development the best the genre had every seen. In addition, with comedies like 30 Rock, The Office, Scrubs, My Name is Earl and How I Met Your Mother all having abandoned the multi-camera formula, the aesthetic just seems strange. Even still, the show is worth watching, especially given the lack of any legitimate choices in the time slot.

Bionic Woman 9:00 p.m. on NBC
It’s finally here. The series premiere of The Bionic Woman re-make has arrived in its final form (and HD for those that have it) and it’s a great ride. There’s much more coverage in the Fancast Fall Coverage, but with the thin offerings available, there’s no excuse for missing tonight’s episode.
