In order to hang with the Jets quarterback for 24 hours the price was set at $100,000. That’s what an unidentified woman paid Saturday at the Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic. The money will go to the foundation's charitable works.
While the $100K for a day is not quite Bill Clinton range, it’s a hefty haul for a guy who throws and runs with a football for a living. Tebow, of course, holds some extra clout in the Jacksonville area, where the charity event is being held. He was raised in the area and starred in college at nearby University of Florida.
And then there is just his general magnetism and strong moral fiber. Tebow’s never, publicly at least, done or said much wrong. He’s also regularly going out of his way to help others, which makes him ideal to serve the mystery woman’s purpose.
“She felt that bringing Timmy to her town down there would maybe change the town. She cleared it with Timmy and it sounds like she’s going to have a little event where she brings some of the kids who are in need and some of the kids who are deserving,” Erik Dellenback, the executive director for the Tim Tebow Foundation, told The Florida Times-Union.
“We’d prefer not to say who they are, but they have a place in the Keys, which is where he’s going to go.”
The $100,000 wasn’t the only gift Tebow received at the event. Golfer Bubba Watson presented him with his Masters badge from last week. Watson, who was given badge No. 15, Tebow’s jersey number, won the tournament.
