Tragic news out of Ruston, Louisiana. Tyrone Duplessis, who played running back for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, was found dead early this morning in his off-campus apartment, according to a university news release.

Duplessis’ cause of death is not yet known and little information was made available. The news release said that grief counselors will be made available on campus for teammates and friends.

Sadly, Duplessis, who played in 11 games during three seasons with the Bulldogs, joins a long list of college and high school athletes who inexplicably died at very young ages in the past two years. Last year alone, the sudden deaths of Oklahoma linebacker Austin Box, 19-year-old redshirt freshman tight end Garrett Uekman of Arkansas, and Oregon State defensive tackle Fred Thompson drew national attention.
