Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have taken a lot of heat over the name of their newborn daughter, North West, but apparently the moniker has a deeper meaning than previously reported.
Contrary to popular belief, the pair didn’t consult a map when choosing baby North’s unique moniker.
A source tells TMZ that Kanye and Kim feel the name is far more “inspirational” than “directional” and sees it as a metaphor for “up.”
The couple has reportedly been explaining the name to friends by posing the question: “What’s North of North? Nothing.”
In addition, the notoriously narcissistic duo believe baby North is the highest point of their relationship together and have referred to the baby as their very own “North Star.”
Baby North, who will be called Nori for short, was born on June 15, three weeks early. According to Us magazine, the premature baby reportedly weighed in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces.
