Women don’t normally turn to their husbands’ ex-wives for advice, but Katie Holmes’ divorce from Tom Cruise hasn’t been especially normal (insert Nicole Kidman here).
It’s already been revealed that Holmes was forced to get sneaky in planning her divorce, but Us Weekly reports that she went a step further and enlisted the help of Cruise’s first wife—who was divorced by the actor in 2001. A source said they’ve spoken over the last few weeks.
“Nicole has been supportive, saying she’s been through it, too, and to hang in there,” a friend told the mag.
The two actresses have been quietly forming a friendship since Holmes and Cruise married in 2006, the friend added.
“She has been a private friend not many people know about,” the source continues.
Perhaps the reason Kidman has been so willing to help is the known rift that’s grown between herself and children Isabella, 19, and Connor, 17, whom she adopted with Cruise during their 10-year marriage.
Many blame the estrangement on Cruise and his involvement with Scientology, which Katie reportedly saw as a real threat to 6-year-old daughter Suri.
With this threat looming, the source added that Holmes reached out again for advice: “Nicole offered her support and help.”
